Isn't that because the text changes? I found "The Lucidity Institute" today (via Dagmar's site) where they had a lot of information on lucid dreaming. One of their exercises to get lucid is called "Reality check": You read a short text many times during the day when certain events occur, and read it a few times to see if it changes. If it don't, you know you're probably not dreaming. If it changes, chances are you *are* dreaming.
