Dave and I were both active there around 1996 or so. We did eventually grow out of it -- it turns out there's only so much Critters can teach you, and after four or five submissions, the critiques you get back start to look real repetitive. But it was a valuable and rewarding experience for both of us. I don't know if they're still as good, or even if they might be better, but they're worth checking out.
I was an active member last year, but never submitted any writings (I've never written anything long enough; most of my writings are very ahort - character sketches more than they are proper stories, reall). But, at the very least, it gets you a pool of stuff to read. :-} Some of it's pretty good, too - I especially liked one horror story I got. But that's beside the point.
