I decided to use the search function and actually found the answer I was looking for. You actually have to fight two encounters on level 7 to get into the small, diamond-shaped room and get the passage stone in the center of the room. When you get that you can get past the sign and explore level 6.

I hope for those of you in the future that are stuck on this section that it is a help, and for Rinus7, I appreciate you trying to help.
