Oops...I didn't read well enough. If youve got the wand then you are at the end until the jewel problem gets fixed. I'm guessing you now know who wants the jewel.

It may be that there is something I can do (I've only been stuck for 15 minutes or so), but there are no extra options at the remaining puzzles and no sign of the jewel, so I've rather lost confidence in the "try everything everywhere" approach.
