NS was suddenly locking up on me today, I clear my cache, and viola! not a problem since. Worth a shot, and probably quicker than getting a new browser. Though if you're still using IE 3.x, I would reccomend getting a newer version of NS...

This sounds like the problem is happening because you're tight on disk space. If you're tight enough on disk space so that Netscape doesn't have the space required to add links to your history file, then that would certainly cause links not to be darkened after you've followed them. And yes, being low on disk space could also cause locks, although that shouldn't necessarily be the case. Rather than obliterating your cache entirely, try just lowering its maximum allowed size in your options/preferences area.

Then again, if you never have less than hundreds of megs free on that disk, ignore this advice. :-)
