But don't believe it. That means that the amount of real data that the browser will store in the cache will not exceed 5 megs, but that doesn't take into account the overhead imposed by the operating system, which depends on your disk's block size. My drive's block size is 32k, which means that the OS only allocates file space in chunks of 32K. So even if I had a 1 byte file, it would still require 32K of actual disk space. Caches tend to have lots of little files in them, so the overhead builds up fast. I have a 10 meg disk cache, but I know that clearing it can sometimes save upwards of 50 and 60 megs of space.
