Thirteen At Dinner (1985)

Reviews and Comments

Peter Ustinov's third appearance as Hercule Poirot (and fourth and fifth, for that matter) were on the small screen. Thirteen At Dinner was made for network television. The movie looks the part. Television production values hurt it. The richness and murky intrigue of Evil Under the Sun is conspicuously missing here -- in its place is a familiar string of conventions and contrivances. While entertaining for the average TV mystery, it's disheartening to imagine what it might have been had it been given a theatrical-sized budget and theatrical-calibre talent behind the camera.
