This sequel to the great The Paleface is disappointing compared to the original -- due in part to the fact that the story seems to happen around Bob Hope rather than by and to him -- but it's still one of Bob Hope's best when considered on its own merit. Jane Russell reprises her performance from The Paleface with similarly successful results. Hope is a little more wisecracking and a little less endearing this time around. But two new co-stars are scene-stealers, namely Roy Rogers and Trigger, the smartest horse in the movies. (One of Son of Paleface's best scenes has Hope and Trigger sharing a bed.) Lots of laughs.
