Reviews and Comments

For those who complained that Dungeons & Dragons was not enough like the game, here is a movie that actually contains the line, "I blundered into that trap like a farm boy on his first campaign."

Do the characters know, then, that they are in a "campaign"? They seem to. Once the badguy has set his evil plan in motion (something about an immortal becoming more immortal by possessing a magic trinket), a party of characters is assembled as if from a checklist (male dwarf-like rogue, check; female elf mage, check). Then they all travel through some traps to get the badguy.

This movie is about as much fun as watching someone else play the game. Actually, it's exactly like that. Worse, the nobody playing has any sense of humor at all. This movie takes itself absurdly seriously. It must have been hard work for the actors to recite their dialogue without ever cracking a smile. It's too bad they didn't.
