Show Notes:

Director Spotlight: John Ford

John Ford is one of the great directors of the American studio system. The IMDb lists 144 films to his credit, starting in 1917 and continuing through 1976. Ford is one of the most prolific of the great directors, churning out work at a rate typical of directors from the studio era, which makes discussing his career difficult.

He is most closely associated with the western, particularly his collaborations with John Wayne, which include Stagecoach (1939), She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949), and especially The Searchers (1956).

In addition to westerns, Ford is also known for several very powerful character dramas, including The Grapes of Wrath (1940), The Quiet Man (1952), and the Best Picture winner from 1941: How Green Was My Valley, the film that famously beat Citizen Kane for the Oscar that year. Ford himself won four Best Director awards.

Trivia Question: First Batman Actor

Holy Trivia Question, Batman! Turns out the Dark Knight is a bit older than many realize -- as evidenced by the fact that this week's mystery actor was playing him quite some time ago.
