ITEM!
Lost in the quagmires of the stygmatic pool of time for over thirty years, the missing ending to "The Eye of Argon" has reportedly been found and published in the Feb. 2005 issue of The New York Review of Science Fiction!
The entire story, with the lost ending in its proper place, has been made available online by the folks at the UK Science Fiction Fandom Archive, linked below. Read and enjoy!
The authenticity of the lost ending is not accepted by everyone. Among the doubters is this reviewer: http://www.plover.net/~bonds/argon.html
The guy makes some good points, but I'm inclined to accept the lost ending as genuine for now, partly because I like it and partly because I'd hate to spend more than a couple of minutes applying the principles of textual scholarship to The Eye of Argon.
All of this info and a bit more is on the Wikipedia page for TEoA, which is where I stumbled across it. (How did I ever know anything before Wikipedia? Mrifk!)
