I can't believe this; it's almost too ridiculous to be true...so I did some research.
It seems I also can't believe everything in the article. The author must have read a little bit, heard a little bit, got angry, and made up a whole lot.
Here is the original Passion of Christ quote from the game company's website:
"Controversial as it has been, The Passion of the Christ has generated more than $500 million since it's release. Experts are expecting it to become one of the top ten financially successful movies of all-time.
"To date, not one high-quality video game has been marketed to this same audience. It is management's belief that LEFT BEHIND will be a catalyst for a new genre of video game entertainment; known, as stated by the Wall Street Journal, as 'God Games'."
Quite a bit different, yes? The original quote focuses more on potential financial gain and less on catering to violence-loving Christians. The language isn't nearly as distateful, unless one is afraid of the Left Behind Franchise potential to create a new genre as I am. (Try watching their ground-breaking movie series.)
The article also gives detailed information in the most inflammatory language about game-play which is not given on the game's website. It even contradicts the official information!
I never thought I'd see the day where I would defend anything concerning Left Behind. But, that article just stirs up more controversy than the game is worth, I think.
I put a link below to the official game site.
