I'd agree. In order to starve on the street in the United States, one would have to avoid food. The wealthy have so much food that we have things like soup kitchens and food pantries. In third-world countries (I am familiar with one in particular--Honduras.), there is just not enough food to go around. Machine-gun-carrying armed guards and razor wire surround every housing complex, grocery store, and restaurant. I don't know how people survive there without at least becoming callous.
