Those cowboys lived in pre-helmet days. I can remember riding around in cars with no safety features at all. I was even in a couple of wrecks before anybody ever considered seat belts in cars. I rode bicycles and motorcycles before helmets came into use. I also ate fatty foods, and I have no idea how I managed to survive.

Safety was little more than an idea in those days.
