Gasoline prices are going to mess up vacations this year. Places like Florida are going to suffer and closer-to-home vacations like the Smokies and Myrtle Beach, may see increases. People might even find out that flying is cheaper than driving, so airlines will profit. But flights will be crowded.
I've been trying to save gas by driving a little slower and avoiding extra trips to town. I haven't moved the truck in two weeks. I could save a little gas by not mowing so often, but some idiot put fertalizer on my lawn and the grass is growing like crazy.
We have only been to Dollywood once this year, and we may not go very often. A good day at Dollywood is when all the cars are parked in lots A. B, and C. I expect to park in G a lot this year if people go to the Smokies and Dollywood instead of Florida and Disney. Maybe laid off Disney people can come up and help out at Dollywood.
We do not have any firm plans for a vacation this year. No cruise. Hawaii is out the window. Forget Florida. Gas prices aren't the only reason. We have a daughter-in-law in chemo and probably would stay close to home anyway. But things change. Sick people sometimes get well. Gasoline prices might come down. And maybe pigs will fly, so we might get in a trip somewhere. Or I might just putter around the yard all summer just to make the oil companies mad. Howard
