ARGH I TYPED STUFF OUT AND THEN ACCIDENTALLY DELETED IT ALL
Anyway, the one point I actually wanted to make:

> M. Night Shyamalan is one of my favorite current directors. I even liked "The Village," which I think would have gone over better if it hadn't been preceded by three much better thrillers. This one stars Paul Giamatti and Bryce Dallas Howard in what looks like one of those mysteries where you're not sure where the layers of reality are. I love movies that play with this idea, movies as diverse as "Dark City," "Wes Craven's New Nightmare," and "Adaptation."
I don't think this is going to be a thriller per se, in the sense of The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable. The subtitle of the movie is 'A Bedtime Story', and the idea apparently comes from, surprise, a story he told his children as they were going to bed. Entertainment Weekly interviewed him recently, IIRC, and Shyamalan said that it's not going to have an end-of-the-movie-ZOMGLOL-I-can't-believe-it twist. Which is a nice change, since the 'twists' for Unbreakable and The Village were obvious about ten miles away. Unless, of course, he's lulling us into a false sense of security, and is going to spring some humongous last-minute mind-boggling plot point on us. Oh, and he's already given out a bit of the plot that could be considered a twist, so I won't explicitly say it, but it should be easy enough to find. It's an interesting concept, I will say.
