My favorite is still the 1992 myth of the jet rocket-assisted Chevy Impala, found embedded in the side of a cliff in Arizona. The crazy mental image it gives of a lone, mysterious, smoldering wreck in the desert immediately evokes an ultimate "Wile E. Coyote" mystique. The punchline has a particularly nice touch: "He was doing 250-300 mph when he came to that curve... The brakes were completely burned away, apparently from trying to slow the car." A very effective visceral tale that makes you WANT to believe it. Heh :-)
