I wouldn't feel so bad about it. I'll let you in on a little secret that will probably get my lynched on this board--I *hated* Zork. Couldn't stand it. Here's an example of what it looked like when I tried to play Zork:

Computer: [Long winded description of terrain and surroundings] A huge troll is standing here.

Me: Kill troll

Computer: With what will you kill the troll?

Me: Sword

Computer: Huh?

Me: Kill troll with sword

Computer: You try to kill the troll. The troll laughs at your feeble attempts at violence. The troll grabs your sword away from you and breaks it.

Me: Kick troll

Computer: I wouldn't try that if I were you.

Me: Talk troll

Computer: He's not much of a talker.

Me: Kick troll

Computer: I wouldn't do that if I were you.

Me: You're not me

Computer: Huh?

Me: I hate you.

Computer: Huh?

Me: You suck computer

Computer: Huh?

....and on and on and on. I hated games where the whole point of the game was basically to figure out what was allowed and what wasn't allowed.

One cool thing I remember about Zork, though, was that it understood me when I once typed out something like "kill troll avec sword". That freaked me out.
