A common example is a trekkie will wear a pair of vulcan ears to a trek convention and think he's cool. A trekker will wear full Klingon battle dress, Klingon makeup including the bumpy head prosthesis, and carry his own Bat'letlh, just to go to the latest Star Trek movie (or sometimes just to go to the video store and rent an old star trek movie ;)

I also own the Next Gen Technical Manual, the blueprints for the 1701-D, the model, the Klingon/English dictionary (revised edition), the Klingon language tutorial CD-ROM, The Physics of Star Trek, The Nitpicker's Guide for Next Generation Trekkers, volumes 1 and 2, and have every Next Gen, DS9, and Voyager episode on tape.

Oh, I thought that the diffrence was the Trekkies were the people in costume and Trekkers are the fans that watch for the commentatry Trek episodes carry about modern life and human nature. Or in other words the Trekkies are fan-boys (or girls) and the Trekkers are more cerebral. Maybe we need a 3rd catagory, perhappes Trekoids?

I've never worn a trek costum, but I own all the movies, and one of those picturs of the Enterprise D with the lights that they used to have in Spencers. I also have recorded many episodes off of televison, read the books on occasion (espically the New Frontier series) and read the now defunct Marvel/Paramount comic serieses (my favortie was Star Fleet Academy)

I also am working on my own concept for a Trek Series, but I'll keep that to myself for now. So am I a trekkie, trekker, or can I be a trekoid?
