GOA Help with the crate

15 Bronze Coins
Guard's Sword
Rope
Wire Clippers
Map

8 Red Gemstones
Stone of Strengthening
Tinderbox
Portrait

5 Black Gemstones
Food Rations
String
Clear Focus Stone

I've been trying to get that crate out from under the littering guy. Every time I throw the trash on the ground, he goes crazy, but I can't make him go away. If I leave the area, he just gets back up there. If I take the crate, he knocks me outof the area, and if I hit him, I still don't get it. Some one help me out?
