Go have a look around the first floor of Brackly Hall again. The maid SHOULD have moved on and left you something you can use to get up there.

Without seeing your inventory, however, I can't tell if you've gotten the other item that you'll need to retrieve the shiny thing when you get up there. Post it,please?
