What is prettier to listen to than two part harmony? Tell him to try and harmonize with himself and see how far he gets.

Also, everyone I know has more respect for the number two position because it is rare that someone in the number one position can retain that title without getting an inflated head and a bloated ego.

The number two is usually not as well known, and doesn't feel he/she needs to conform to the pressures of leadership as does number one, and so can be effective in his/her role without worrying about public ridicule.

Also remind him that if something happens to him... *you* take over.
