You're right. Sort of. The current Superboy is a clone, but the original was actually Clark Kent as a child. When John Byrne came in and revamped Superman (in the appropriately named Superman comic) he got rid of this aspect of the Superman mythos, making Superboy just stories that Ma Kent would tell.

> I'm not real sure about Supergil, the original was also a Kryptonian, but she was writen out during the Crisis of Infinite Earths, the current one I think is a shapechanging alien who Superman saved and took on Supergirls shape as a tribut, then things get confusing. I think she has merged with a human, and she is also an angle with fire wings. I don't read much DC stuff so I'm not real sure.

The original was from Krypton, but she died (heroically I might add) in Crisis. The current one is/was called Matrix and was an alien-built shape-changing protoplasm being (that's a mouthful). In Supergirl one she "merged" with Linda Danvers, making her half Supergirl, half Linda, or something to that effect. She is what's called an earth-born angel, whatever that means. Well written comic though, you should pick it up.

> There is also Steel, a guy in armor with the 'S' on the chest who took up deffending Gotham when Superman was 'dead'.

Actually Steel took up defending Metropolis. :P
