POA: Sandstone Caverns

Okay, so after the first post I figured out what to do.

I've worked out the first mine-cart capture but I am having MAJOR issues with the sandstone mines.

My initial reaction, after reading all posts carefully was to NOT drop down any holes. So, I wandered through & I came up with this solution:

S,E,N,W,SE,N,W,S,SW

Which, as you can see, is far too long.

I re-read a post & it advised me to start with a SE direction & go W after that.

Okay, that gets me to the black level in less moves, however - it does NOT get me to the correct black cavern. I am tearing my hair out here.

I've tried to map the caverns every which way - In a series of four 2x2 grids & everyway I can think of that could help me.

Nothing does. I'm at a complete loss, please give me a hint of some kind, as working backwards isn't working for me!
