to go to Game of Ages. It had a great story, was very well
thought out and made, and I just thought it was really fun. It
was not too complex, and most of it didn't even require
mapping, and the puzzles were complex, but not impossible.
The action scenes were exciting, and there was a good amount
of them, and well spaced (I think the dragon fight is still the sole
most asked about topic on this board!). The ending was good,
and had a certain Disney feel to it, and the way it flowed into all
those familiar lines was fantastic.

I have two answers for this: the practical answer, and the
caffeinated answer.

The practical answer = Requires some thinking and
consideration over which game challenged me the most without
making me want to throw something through the screen in
frustration.

The caffeinated answer = The first game that comes to mind
despite the logical reasons for liking the first answer.

Practical: Perils of Akumos. I'm a REALLY visual person, and am
good at visualizing and mapping things out. So mapping out the
sandstone caverns and the conduits was - I don't want to say
second nature because it was a lot of work, but I knew what I
was doing and could work my way around the puzzle without
having to beg and plead for help TOO much from the Hint Board.
The minute I figured out the 3D aspect of a certain puzzle, it
clicked.

Personally, it beats GoA because I enjoyed figuring out how to
map the sandstone caverns more than I did figuring out how to
kill that freaking dragon. But that's largely due to the way I
think.

It also saved my sanity when I started my first job and the
department had NO FREAKING IDEA what to do with all the new
people for about five weeks straight after we got out of training.
I happened to be playing PoA during that lull.

Caffeinated: Fantasy Quest 2. This was the first time I'd gotten to
play an AGL game right when it first came out, and couldn't just
run a search on old Hint Board posts to find the answer. So
without the crutch of the Hint Board (mostly, except for the
string of errands I had to run to get that nail) I had a lot more
fun with FQ2.

Had it been up there in terms of difficulty as PoA, it might have
been a different story, but I found it amusing and was thrilled
when I figured out how to get around the giraffe without being
told. It also came out during a time when I was in dire need of a
distraction.
