The really funny thing is that It's true. We had lunch with an elderly couple as we passed through the Panama Canal. They had cruised all over the world and had been on that ship for more than a month. They planned to stay there all the way to Fort Lauderdale and then go back to California.

We see those marathon cruisers a lot. I hear stories of people who spend a year on the same ship. After our first cruise to Alaska, I told my wife that when I get ready for the nursing home, I want her to put me on a cruise ship. The funny thing is that she thought I was joking.
It's cheaper and better and the view out the window changes all the time.

That first cruise to Alaska was six or seven years ago and we have taken 10 cruises, totaling 80 days. I think she is up there planning another cruise right now. If you know the tricks and have the right connections, you can cruise a lot cheaper than the figures mentioned in that article.
