He does stop smiling sometimes, but I don't take thousands of pictures. I tend to only run for the camera when he's doing his cute act.

There's also the fact that most of the times that he isn't smiling are not good times to take a picture. For example, when he's getting his diaper changed, or when he's hungry. One is usually too busy preparing food for the hungry child or dealing with whatever you've discovered inside the diaper to bother with getting the camera and smapping a picture of an angry baby.
