I'm currently working through Gene Wolfe's "Book of the New Sun" Tetraology. The first two books were good, definitely the most "literary" fantasy/SF I've ever read, and that turned out not to be a bad thing either, which initially worried me.

Before that, I read "Faithful", the Stewart O'Nan/Stephen King book about the 2004 Red Sox. The most interesting part of the book is that they decided to do it (O'Nan got the publisher on board, then enlisted King to co-author it) long before the Sox memorable run in the post season that culminated in their first World Championship in 86 years. In fact, they started their diaries in spring training of the 2004 season and followed the team all year, through the good and the bad, which lends the book a unique perspective that none of the after-the-fact retrospectives can provide. It's interesting to read their thoughts and views (especially King's weird tics as he suffers through the Sox annual summer swoon and hopes for the not-quite-as-annual fall resurgance) knowing that at the time they wrote this, they had no idea of the outcome of the season. Things like their at-the-time reaction to the June Swoon, the Nomar Trade, and the run-up to the post season make for very interesting reading (at least they did to this Sox fan).

Also, I just finished "House of Leaves", an "experimental" goth-horror novel. It was weird, but I found it very enjoyable, even if I didn't really understand most of it.
