Heheh. Well you're right, my question was maybe 90% rhetorical and 10% actual (for those Expert Sphenisciformists browsing the forum -- you never know...)

Nevertheless, Brunnen-G, I was holding out for you to run off to your local touristy information office... grab whatever videos they might be selling of the last National Geographic special to film those South Island penguins... and carefully scrutinize the visuals for any clues on how "they" cunningly scale up into their rookeries. Say!... Maybe they just grab on with their beaks and heave themselves up. Maybe they hop on pop. Maybe they *do* use superpowers, and you could steal the Secrets of Penguin Power. You know how it is...

Of course a wolf might more be interested in discovering how penguins *taste*, but I've just eaten a non-fishy entree, so I'm in a good mood :-)
