Sign up. Don't even think about not signing up. I was in a rut for several years, and the longer you are in it, the deeper it gets. I kept telling myself "just six more months", "next year I'll quit", "maybe after Easter things will improve" etc, etc. In the meantime it was affecting my life in bad ways that I never even realised until right up to the day I quit. That day I felt like the world had been lifted off my shoulders. I walked out of there with no new job to go to, no house, no money, and approximately US$10,000 owing on my boat. I never did a better thing in my life.
I work two jobs now, both of which I love, and one of which contributes to the world in a positive way. Sorry to sound like a self-help book, but if you are unhappy with your job you just have to get to that point where you say "**** the lot of them" and get out and go for it. I say do the courses. There's no way you'll regret it, no matter what you end up doing.
