Kobolds are much older than D&D; in fact, the metal cobalt is named after them because Germans associated the metal with kobolds.

When I played GOA, I figured Gwuils were made up (because of something about the way they were described) and indeed the FAQ for Murkon's Refuge confirms this.

I'd been wondering about beefheads myself.
