I got bombed today.

I was outside today, sweeping the acorns off the drive. We have a lot of little nutty, bushy-tailed critters who munch the acorns in that big oak beside the drive, and one of them took offence at that big bipedal mammal down there and started dropping acorns. They do that to chase you away. After several misses, he scored three direct hits; two on my sholder and one on my head. That oak is not our largest, but it is over 75 feet tall. I wonder what the terminal velocity of an acorn is when dropped from that altitude.

The acorns and hickory nuts are much larger than normal this year. Too much rain, I guess. Some hickory nuts, still in the outer hull, are as big as a tennis ball. I keep moving under hickory trees. Squirrels can't seem to hit a moving target. It's just more than their little rodent brain can calculate.
