FQ1 fortress, oil, gold piece

Inventory: sack, carrot, rope, hook, branch, silver key, gold key, sword, shovel, hammer, nails, bow, arrow, fishing pole, magic stone, club ticket, sunstone, scroll, jeweld dagger, winter coa, gold piece, and oil.
I am stuck in the fortress. I found a gold piece, took it to soothsayer, and she gave me oil. I went back to fortress and I have found another gold piece. I can't get out of the fortress now...going in circles...I don't know what to do with the oil, and I can't get out to give the gold piece to the soothsayer. please help, thank you
