FQ - stuck

I have:

sack
silver coin
carrots
branch
sword
diamond
shovel
nails
bow
arrow
club

I know I need to find gold coins, but I haven't yet. I have been in the cave at least 5 times and have examined everything I can but so far I haven't made any progress for a good while. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
