How do i open the rusty gate? I have put the rusty key in the gate but it will not open!

I have:
20 Onions
2 tree branch
sack
small silver coin
silver key
flot ring
sap tap
bucket of sea water
bottle opener
cross
coconut
huge ladder (broken)
pliers
red potion
green potion
iron support
sword
rusty key
wooden plank
sunstone
