How do you know which portion to take in the sorcerers hut?

I have:
20 Onions
2 tree branch
sack
small silver coin
silver key
flot ring
sap tap
bucket of sap
cross
coconut
huge ladder
blue rubber ball
pliers
iron support
sword
sunstone
