It's because Bitpass is stingy with what information it provides the content seller -- since I can't tell who a subscriber is or how long they're subscribed for, if I didn't require subscribers to log in again every so often, then there would be nothing stopping a one-time subscriber from getting ad-free pages indefinitely.
