Sega Game Gear (Remember Those?)

I've just been reminded of a question I'd been meaning to ask around about. Thanks, teach!

I have a ten-year old Sega Game Gear that I got when I was in college. I've got five or six game cartridges for it. The problem is, I haven't been able to use it since 1998 because my roommate dropped it on the floor from the top of his bunk bed and damaged it. It still runs the games, but the directional control pad is borked. The up and down directions still work. Either the left or the right is broken; I can't remember which, but it may not matter.

My question is, how easy would it be to fix it? Would it be a simple matter of going down to Radio Shack, buying a replacement part and putting it in? Or is it more complicated than that? I'm guessing the latter, but it never hurts to ask.

Gri"and if you can help me with that, I've got an old keyboard I really like with a damaged power suppy jack..."shny
