If I was in charge of movie ratings, and thank goodness I'm not, I would probably scrape the who system and start from scratch. The present system doesn't tell you much. You see an R rating and you don't know anything about why it got that rating. It could be any number of things. I think it's TV Guide, which I almost never see, that marks movies with letters like N, V, GV,etc. just to give you a clue of why it is rated R. This can be important to me, because I am not offended by N unless it is N with S. However, I find V or VG offensive.

I would also like to add D rating (Destruction) on movies that show crashing, smashing, blasting and incineration of irreplaceable classic cars and aircraft. Yes, I know they can use special effects to do this now, but I still don't enjoy it. There has been a promotion of "The Godfather" running on TV a lot lately and it show a beautiful old 39 LaSalle (I think) being blown up. When they made that movie, they used real cars. Is there any way that can be called entertainment?

I think a few movies need a DWYT rating for "Don't waste your time." Or maybe DWYM.
