> Anyway, Andrew Jackson gets to stay on the basis that he kicked a hell of a lot of ass. Not to knock Reagan, but when an assassin tried to kill Ol' Hickory, he didn't just take a bullet and spend some time in the hospital: he beat the assassin with his cane. That just embodies the U.S. spirit in so many ways.

... What about the Indian Removal Act of 1830, which was successfully challenged in court by the Cherokee Nation, but which Jackson continued to enforce over the objections of the Supreme Court, leading to the Trail of Tears and the death of 25% of the Cherokee population? Is that, too, something we really want to enshrine?

Besides, Jackson's fervent efforts to destroy the national bank makes his appearance on our currency more than a little odd to my mind. Sure, beating the hell out of your would-be assassin is cool, but that's not enough to make up for all the crap surrounding Jackson's presidency. If you can't tell, this is a bit of a sore spot with me. :P

> My suggestions: ditch Grant for Jefferson or Madison, and move Hamilton off the $10 and onto the $2, replacing him with Jefferson/Madison. If we wanted to get rid of Hamilton altogether, I wouldn't be too pissed, though before we added Reagan I'd suggest adding FDR, for saving the world back in the 1940s.

I'm with you all the way on this part, though.

> We can get Reagan on money by ditching JFK from the fifty cent piece and putting him on one of those. Or, better yet, we could ditch whichever chick we have on the dollar coin this week and put Reagan on there, and hope we can actually get a $1 coin in circulation, since it's a great idea.

Why is it so imperative that we put Reagan on money? There are lots of dead people -- they can't *all* be on currency.

-Cynth"expects to be on the currency of several countries by the time *she* dies, however"ia
