Maps are helpful for any level of the game, but a map is pretty much essential for level 10. Presumably you have the MAP spell by now, so a good idea is to cast it, print out the result, and then start marking up the teleporters and where they take you. I've also found it helpful to note the locations of treasure and trap squares on my maps.
Thanks. I always make maps and mark the traps & treasures. In the first dead end room I found 4 different teleport out sites, but I was sure they all went back to the stairwell enterence. Hmmmmm.... I must go review this.
