I guess it's a part of life.
In one way, it won't get better. We are living in a mobile society. Even families get scattered. My cousins are scattered from Hawaii to Iceland, and my children live 17, 35, 45, and 170 miles away. I have lost track of all of my high school friends and only in the last few years have I re-established contact with a few of them.

But yes, it will get better in that you learn to handle it better. Also with modern communications like the internet and cheap long distance telephones, you can stay in touch. That way you won't have to go through what I did when I learned that two of my closest friends had died. One died months before I heard about it and the other one had been gone for years and years.

But it's fun making new friends, isn't it?
