From one old timer (70 also) to another here goes.
first go to the tavern owner and talk to him about the gwuills. you need to think over what he says several times until you think of having to make a ring. Visit the blacksmith and ask about having a ring made. then you have to look at the picture before u climb in the window to get it. then after u have been in the kitchen and caused a mess with the pots, go back to the picture. there should be nobody there.
