It's not enough to just come in from a different way. You're missing a step.
Here's the thing: If you come into the valley the normal way, and the giraffe is sticking his nose into the cavern entrance to the north, thinking you're still in there, what's to stop you from booking it across the valley towards the castle?
Think about it.
