Sea Nymph

I have freed the Gwuils, bought my apple pie, and am currently running around in the desert with Sea Nymph. How do I get past that first valkyrie to the north? Since there doesn't appear to be anything about this one on the boards, I KNOW I'm missing something ridiculously simple...any and all help is greatly appreciated, thanks :o)
