I'm rather partial to "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" (by Poison), "Something to Believe In" (also Poison), "Here In My Heart" (Chicago), "Will You Still Love Me" (also Chicago), "Livin' On a Prayer" (Bon Jovi), "Just Remember" (Sister Hazel), "Starfish" (Sister Hazel again), and "Life Uncommon" (Jewel).

I just noticed that your post got 20 replies and mine wasn't in there yet, so here goes.
My favorite song is probably "Stardust" which was written by Hoagy Carmichael about 1940 or so.
Carmichael wrote a bunch of good songs, but only one great song. It turned out to be the greatest.
I think he wrote both words and music. I also like George Gershwin's stuff. "Summertime" from "Porgy and Bess" and "Rhapsody in Blue" are among my favorites. I also like other kinds of music such as "Maresy Doats" and even one Elvis song.
