My favorite teachers were always English teachers. Of course....it was my favorite course....that swayed me a bit. One of the first things they taught my was not to use lots of dots to indicate a pause. But sometimes it just seems right. Be free with your writing, especially at your age (I don't mean to sound ancient...geez). I spent whatever year I figured out how to work Mom's word processor on the Apple IIe through most of highschool writing whatever storyline came into my head. I loved telling myself the story. The truth is, now that I have all of these literary "tools" from classes, I can't manage to drum up a decent story line. And so it goes.

Overall, write what pleases you.

Take care and good luck,
Tyler

p.s.- Some day, in some situation, you will have a "teacher" who takes your breath away. You usually only get one chance at them...when you see it, take it.
