Float ring... for being able to float yourself down into what would be an otherwise fatal drop. Check.
Winter coat... for surviving ice-cold rooms within supposedly impassable fortresses. Check.
You're right. There's nothing else you can do in the GARDEN castle. But you can now enter the other castle through its "back door." That first step, though, is a doozy... good thing you have the float ring.
