Sandstone Caverns- Spoilers

This is driving me absolutely balmy. No matter what I try I can't reduce the number of moves and catch the cart the second time.
Starting out at the entry to the sandstone caverns, I can either travel S, NE, W, to a yellow area OR travel E, Drop, or West to the same area. From there I travel SE (to a red area), N, W (to a black area), S (to another black area, and SW to the Rail Station. There HAS to be a shorter way. Any thoughts??????? THANK YOU!!!!!
