Giant Bunny in FQ1

I have read a few posts that if you give the rabbit carrots, you will be able to get past the cat in the maze. What I need to know is: How many carrots do you give it? and When you give it enough, does the rabbit do anything different, or do you just have to go to the cat to see the differece?
